About Me
Ann Corrao just completed her MFA in Dance through the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Her dance journey began at Scarsdale Ballet Studio, studying ballet with Fronda Sobel, Simon Kasantsev and Diana White. She then went on to received her BA in Dance from Muhlenberg College, concentrating in Education and Choreography. Ms. Corrao was greatly influenced by her professors Karen Dearborn, Teresa Van Denend Sorge and Megan Flynn, to utilize her knowledge of creative movement pedagogy, somatic techniques, and anatomy to create a unique ballet experience for her students. She is currently working as an educator, choreographer, and programs coordinator for the Pennsylvania School for the Performing Arts (Newtown, PA) and dances for the Megan Flynn Dance Company. She has performed in works by Heidi Cruz-Austen, Jessica Lang, Trinette Singleton, Jeffrey Peterson and Amanda Selwyn Dance Theater. She has also presented work at the American College Dance Association Festival and the International Dance Festival presented by Nickerson-Rossi Dance. Throughout the shut downs Ms. Corrao began working as a video editor and has been a content manager for many of her local dance studios. Now, Ann is happy to be making many connections in Philadelphia and Bucks County (PA) and using the inspirations from graduate school to continue to push her teaching practice and dance making!

Present
This year I have been adapting to my new role as Programs Coordinator for the Pennsylvania School for the Performing Arts (Newtown, PA), while continuing to teach their ballet and creative classes. I finished up my graduate work in the fall (2022) and started substitute teaching at PALCS Center for the Performing and Fine Arts in West Chester, PA. You can find me subbing dance, music, and fine arts classes any day of the week!

Education

Muhlenberg College
Throughout the program I participated in Performance Methodologies, Critical Studies, and Studio Practice courses. I completed my thesis "Reminisce" in December 2022, which included a public sharing and the creation of an artist book.
2017 / MAY
Muhlenberg College
I graduated in May 2017. I studied dance and concentrated in education, choreography, and performance. I also took many business classes and have found that I am really interested in non-profit organization management.
2016 / AUG
American Dance Festival
I attended the American Dance Festival as one of their summer interns. While I was there I took classes in composition, Forsythe ballet, and Shen Wei dance arts. I was able to participate in the International Choreographers in Residence Performance as well as other informal dance concerts.
2016 / APR
Accademia dell'Arte, Arezzo
During the Spring Semester of my junior year I studied at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy, just south of Florence. I spent about 3 months studying dance, philosophy, Italian, and performance studies in a villa nestled in the Tuscan hills. This semester was a highlight in my collegiate dance studies. I was inspired and encouraged by a unique and generous group of artists.

The Ursuline School
The Ursuline School is a private Catholic all-girl school in New Rochelle, NY. During my time at Ursuline I was involved in the dance club, Peer Ministry, and the Italian Honors Society. This school and the people in it shaped the strong, independent woman that I am today.
